TROUBLE IN RUNNING

TACTICAL COMMAND (H197) after the 300M shifted out in an attempt to secure clear running and made contact with a runner. After the race, rider reported that when his mount commenced well, he elected to make use of the good start to ride forward and take up a position outside the lead. He said however, in his opinion, given the manner in which his mount finished the race off, it would be better suited by being ridden in a more conservative manner in the early stages. Trainer stated that he expected the horse to take up a midfield position but agreed with the assessment of rider that once the horse jumped well, he took advantage of its good start. He also concurred with the views of rider that the horse is better suited when being ridden in a more conservative manner in the early stages. Post-race vet inspection did not show any significant findings - Race 610.

KING INVINCIBLE (H199) bumped shortly after the start. Near the 600M was steadied when crowded - Race 589.

MODEST GENTLEMAN (G352) jumped only fairly. When questioned regarding his riding out approaching the finish of the event, rider advised that during the running of the race his vision became impaired due to some kickback from the track. He said over the concluding stages he stopped riding his mount for one stride before realising his mount had not reached the winning post which resulted in him resuming riding it out to the finish. Finished 2nd and rider was nonetheless reminded of his obligation to ensure that he fully rides his mounts out to the finish of the race - Race 589.

THE GOOD DEAL (G025) in the early stages raced keenly when being crossed. Near the 350M was disappointed for clear running and then did not obtain clear running until near the 200M. Again approaching the 150M was steadied when disappointed for clear running - Race 579.

MULTIMORE (D443) in the early part of the Home Straight lay in. When questioned regarding his riding from the 600M and the reason his mount lost its position behind the leaders, rider stated that when a runner improved to his inside and shifted out slightly, his mount had a tendency to lay out and as a result he was cautious not to allow his mount to shift out. He said as a consequence he did not ride his mount along through that section of the race to ensure his mount maintained its position on the track which resulted in his mount losing some ground after the 500M. After the race was examined by the vet who reported that the horse had an epiglottic entrapment - Race 325.

AUGUST MOON (D409) raced wide and without cover from the 600M. Passing the 50M was steadied - Race 589.

SIX BEST FRIENDS (G205) jumped awkwardly and shifted out. After the race was reported by the vet who said the horse had bled from both nostrils. Has since performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and passed an official vet exam - Race 119.

FIRE BALL (D087) approaching the 100M the whip of rider was knocked from his grasp by the whip of another rider - Race 541.
