Racing Incident Report
Race Eight : (482) - KC SMART MOBILITY HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1650Meters
Horse No 1 D STAR (G374) Y L Chung Bumped at the start and from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 2 INVINCIBLE MISSILE (C037) K H Chan Slow to begin.
Horse No 3 SURE JOYFUL (G125) H Bowman Bumped on jumping.
H Bowman was fined a sum of $10,000 for failing to ride SURE JOYFUL to the finish of the event to the satisfaction of the Stewards.
After the race, H Bowman stated that his mount raced a little keenly in the early stages but was obliged to shift three wide from the 550 Metres when TAKE ACTION did not improve into the event.
He said as a result SURE JOYFUL was unable to finish the race off strongly.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 4 CORDYCEPS ONE (E107) H Bentley Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 5 TAKE ACTION (J098) K C Leung Shifted in at the start and was bumped.
After the race, K C Leung stated that when caught wide in the early stages and the pace of the event was run outside of standard, he allowed his mount to stride forward where it obtained a position outside the lead near the 1000 Metres.
He added from the 700 Metres TAKE ACTION was under pressure and gave ground in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 6 CHEONG FAT (H058) B Avdulla Jumped awkwardly and made contact with D STAR.
From a wide barrier was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Horse No 9 PO ON WAY (H201) M Chadwick From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 10 CAN'T GO WONG (H087) A Badel From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 7 STARSHIP EIGHTY (H022) A Hamelin After being placed in the barriers kicked out, resulting in its left hind leg being cast over the back gate for a considerable period.
Acting on veterinary advice that STARSHIP EIGHTY was not suitable to race, the horse was withdrawn by order of the Stewards.
Before being allowed to race again, STARSHIP EIGHTY will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Early favourite Strongest Boy reeled in long-time leader Cordyceps One in the closing stages for the win after settling one off the fence in midfield. He has been racing well and deserved the win. Well-backed Cordyceps One failed to hold on after getting his own way in front from gate five. He's holding his form well after winning two of three prior starts. Following a run on the rail behind midfield, Can't Go Wong ran on nicely for third after peeling into the open. He can bob up at any moment after building on back-to-back fourths at Sha Tin. United Endeavors kept on at one pace after settling in the box seat. He wasn't quite good enough following a win in Class Five. Po On Way came from last up the rail to finish next best. It was an encouraging effort trying the Valley 1,650m for the first time. Invincible Missile ran on without threatening from worse than midfield. Post-time favourite Sure Joyful found little when asked for an effort following a prominent run. It was an out-of-character performance. Starship Eighty got cast in the gate and was withdrawn by order of the stewards on veterinary advice.
