Prime Minister got up 30m out despite getting baulked for a run twice in the stretch drive while travelling handy on the fence for a third career win and second over the Valley 1,650m. The writing had been on the wall with thirds once at each track from his past two starts. Well backed late, Viva Hunter found one too good after claiming the lead 100m out after rushing forward to track the speed 1,200m out from gate 12. He relished a return to the course and distance of a win two runs ago. Favourite Eighteen Palms stayed on a pleasing third after travelling effectively in the one-one spot. It was a good run up in grade following a win. Winning Dragon ran on steadily from midfield to just miss a placing. It was another good showing following a win. Skyey Supreme wouldn't go down without a fight after finding the front from gate nine. He gave a decent sight despite the dirt being his preferred surface. All Beauty made a mild bid from midfield. Jumbo Fortune ran on without threatening from towards the rear. He didn't get a race run to suit. Zone D never really got in on the act after a tardy start.

Racing Incident Report

Race Nine: (691) - IRIS HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1650Meters

ZONE D was slow to begin.

GALLANT CROWN jumped awkwardly.

Shortly after the start, SKYEY SUPREME blundered, then shifted in and made contact with WINNING DRAGON, resulting in WINNING DRAGON bumping with EIGHTEEN PALMS.

As a result, EIGHTEEN PALMS then shifted in and away from WINNING DRAGON, crowding GALLANT CROWN.

ZONE D raced keenly in the middle stages and for some distance near the 1200 Metres was steadied to avoid the heels of INVINCIBLE MISSILE.

After the 600 Metres, RED MAJESTY lay in and made contact with the running rail.

Approaching the 150 Metres, PRIME MINISTER was eased when crowded between EIGHTEEN PALMS and VIVA HUNTER, both of which shifted ground slightly.

After the race, B Avdulla (RED MAJESTY) reported that his mount travelled well behind the lead, but when asked for an effort in the Straight failed to respond and was disappointing.

A veterinary inspection of RED MAJESTY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Also after the race, Z Purton (JUMBO FORTUNE) advised that his mount settled back in the field from its wide barrier, but found it difficult to make up ground and was unsuited by tonight's racing pattern.

Following the race, K Teetan (RATTAN KINGDOM) reported that his mount settled back in the field from a wide barrier and entering the Back Straight near the 900 Metres he attempted to make a forward move on his mount without having to unduly pressure it, however, RATTAN KINGDOM was unable to quicken.

He added that from the rear of the field RATTAN KINGDOM found it difficult to make up ground in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection of RATTAN KINGDOM immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

EIGHTEEN PALMS, PRIME MINISTER and VIVA HUNTER were sent for sampling.
