Recap by phillip woo

Well-backed Packing Hurricane got up in the last bound with two wider out after one off run from midfield to just blouse outsider Leading Fortune for a second straight win from seven local runs. Leading Fortune did everything right but get the win after surging to the lead 300m out following a pace-stalking run. He relished the wet ground despite a rise in trip. Total Power stayed on one-paced after finding a spot in the box seat. He lived up to a lace last start over 2,200m. Favourite Nicholson Returns ran on reasonably well to nearly place after making his run one from the rear. It was another honest effort in his first start beyond 1,800m. Enjoying only plodded when asked for more after a prominent run. He's struggling to find his best form in 10 outings this term. S J Tourbillon came up flat after peeling into the open rounding the final bend following a midfield run on the fence. He just struggling to click over the 2,000m.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four: (638) - FREESIA HANDICAP - Class 3 - 2000Meters

ABOVE was slow to begin.

SUPERBELLA jumped awkwardly, shifted in and hampered SERANGOON which jumped only fairly.

SUPERBELLA and SERANGOON were then shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Near the 1700 Metres, SERANGOON commenced to race keenly and was steadied to avoid the heels of NICHOLSON RETURNS.

SUPERBELLA raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

After the race, M Chadwick (ENJOYING) advised that he expected to lead the event, however, despite being ridden along in the early stages ENJOYING did not show sufficient pace to do so.

Also after the race, K Teetan (ESCAPE ROUTE) reported that his mount did not appreciate being pressured in the lead by LEADING FORTUNE, however, failed to handle the rain-affected track conditions.

A veterinary inspection of ESCAPE ROUTE immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

Before being allowed to race again, ESCAPE ROUTE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Following the race, Apprentice Y L Chung (SERANGOON) reported that his mount was not comfortable on the rain-affected track conditions.

A veterinary inspection of SERANGOON immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

After the race, L Hewitson (S J TOURBILLON) reported that his mount travelled satisfactorily in the event, however, when placed under pressure in the Straight failed to quicken on today's rain-affected going.

A veterinary inspection of ABOVE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

NICHOLSON RETURNS, PACKING HURRICANE and LEADING FORTUNE were sent for sampling.
