Racing Incident Report
Race Nine: (577) - SHELLEY HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters
Whilst in the saddling stalls, GOLD GOLD BABY had its right hind plate re-adjusted.
GOLD GOLD BABY was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race.
From the outside barriers, JUMBO LEGEND, LESLIE and TELECOM SPIRIT were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
After the 600 Metres, YOU'REMYEVERYTHING was steadied when racing tight to the inside of JUMBO LEGEND for a short distance.
Near the 300 Metres, THE RUNNER improved to the outside of ACT OF FAITH and as a result bumped MAGNIAC, resulting in THE RUNNER and MAGNIAC becoming unbalanced.
Over the final 25 Metres, PHOENIX LIGHT raced tight between ACT OF FAITH and XPONENTIAL and as a result could not be ridden out to the finish of the event.
When questioned regarding the performance of GOLD GOLD BABY, C Y Ho stated that his mount settled back in the field as anticipated where it travelled well.
He said when placed under pressure from the 500 Metres GOLD GOLD BABY took some time to respond to his riding before finishing the race off fairly.
He added that, in his opinion, the run tonight still had some merit given that GOLD GOLD BABY was carrying an additional 5 lbs tonight from its last start win on 8 March 2023.
A veterinary inspection of GOLD GOLD BABY immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse's trachea.
A veterinary inspection of LESLIE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
MAGNIAC, XPONENTIAL and ACT OF FAITH were sent for sampling.

9 April 2023 Sha Tin Racemeeting - Race 10 (567) The Veterinary Surgeon reported that LUCKY WITH YOU was lame in its left front and left hind legs after racing.
Before being allowed to race again, LUCKY WITH YOU will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Ultra-consistent Xponential kept finding to just hold Act Of Faith after dictating the run from gate three. The win was overdue after placing in five of his seven other starts this term. Act of Faith gave the winner a run for his money after his pace-stalking run. He is itching for a return to the winner's circle with placings in each of his past three starts. Late-fancied favourite Magniac ran on steadily to finish a close third after his one-out, one-back run. It was another good effort after placing in two of his opening three local starts at Sha Tin. Phoenix Light ran on well to fill the frame from midfield. It was another honest performance despite his switch to Happy Valley. The Runner kept on evenly after travelling in the box seat. He may be close to a bottom. Heroic Master ran on steadily without threatening from behind midfield. Compassion Spirit just held his ground from midfield. He is a Class Four horse. Jumbo Legend ran on without threatening travelling four from the rear. The pace of the race did not suit him. Gold Gold Baby made a mild bid from the rear of the field. The slow tempo worked against him as well.
