Recap by phillip woo

Favourite Nimble Nimbus maintained his strong gallop after surging to the lead 200m out to register his third win from 14 starts. He continues to raise his game after his fine second campaign. Storm Legend ran on steadily from midfield to just grab second. He is still to salute but been the runner-up in three of his five starts over this Valley trip. King's Capital peaked on his run 50m out to fill a minor placing. He was sharper for his first-up run on opening day and suited by his rise in trip. Viva Hunter ended fourth after taking the lead from Master Hero 650m out following his pace-stalking run. He is likely on or near his mark. Zone D got going late when the race was over after travelling second last from his wide draw. He requires a stronger pace. Master Hero did not quite get the trip after clearing to the lead from his tricky gate inside the first 300m. He is a 1,400m horse. Savvy Kingman was a non-factor after his box-seat run. He is better over a longer trip and his big weight did not help him. Like his Hong King debut run at Sha Tin, Round The Earth never got into the act from the rear of the field. He will need time to settle in.

Racing Incident Report

Race Six: (70) - THE HONG KONG COUNTRY CLUB CHALLENGE CUP (HANDICAP) - Class 3 - 1650Meters

ODE TO JOY, which was fractious in the barriers, began only fairly.

SAVVY KINGMAN and VIVA HUNTER also began only fairly.

ZONE D was slow to begin and then was shifted across behind runners from a wide barrier.

Also from the outside barrier, ROUND THE EARTH was steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.

Near the 1600 Metres, VIVA HUNTER raced tight between SAVVY KINGMAN and MASTER HERO which shifted in before being shifted back out to relieve the crowding.

Near the 1400 Metres, SAVVY KINGMAN was eased away from the heels of MASTER HERO (M Chadwick) which shifted in when not properly clear.

M Chadwick was reprimanded and told to ensure that he provides the necessary clearance in similar circumstances.

Passing the 450 Metres, STORM LEGEND and ZONE D raced tight.

In the early part of the Straight, NIMBLE NIMBUS got its head on the side and lay in under pressure and passing the 300 Metres inconvenienced MASTER HERO.

Passing the 250 Metres, H Bentley's (STORM LEGEND) whip became entangled in the reins when changing his whip into his right hand.

In the Straight, ZONE D lay in under pressure.

After the race, L Ferraris stated that when racing outside MASTER HERO after the 1200 Metres, VIVA HUNTER would not relax.

He said his mount got its head up on a number of occasions as he attempted to maintain its position outside MASTER HERO and when VIVA HUNTER continued to travel keenly, he elected to allow VIVA HUNTER to stride forward of MASTER HERO near the 700 Metres rather than continue to restrain his mount.

NIMBLE NIMBUS and STORM LEGEND were sent for sampling.
