Recap by phillip woo

Packing Award held off the late surge of Prime Minister after rolling forward three deep to eventually slot one-off in second outside The Anomaly 700m out for a fourth win from 11 starts. He'll likely remain in the grade and can score again. Prime Minster ran on nicely to finish a close second after showing no speed one from the back. The swing in the weights was the difference in the end. Favourite Nearly Fine just got up for third after a patient ride at the rear of the field. He continues to race well. The Anomaly grudgingly gave way after finding the front 1,250m out from a wide draw. It was another honest effort. Ready Player One ran on steadily to pick up yet another minor cheque after a one-off trip in midfield. He might require a drop into Class Four. Cinquante Cinq just held his ground after a rails run in midfield. An upset win by him second-up remains a fluke. Red Majesty came up one-paced over the final 100m after a one-out, one-back run. He's done very well to win four of 12 starts this season and might be in need of a break. Oscar Glory didn't have much when asked for an effort after handing up the front to enjoy a box-seat run. He's a Class Four horse.

Racing Incident Report

Race Six: (717) - CAINE HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1650Meters

ESCAPE ROUTE was withdrawn by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice when it was noted that the horse had sustained a laceration to the right hind cannon in the holding stalls.

Before being allowed to race again, ESCAPE ROUTE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

PACKING AWARD was tightened for room on jumping between RED MAJESTY and THE ANOMALY which shifted in.

Passing the 1300 Metres, PACKING AWARD was left racing wide and without cover and after this was allowed to gradually improve its position to race outside the lead near the 700 Metres.

After the 1200 Metres, COPARTNER FIONN raced close to the heels of READY PLAYER ONE.

READY PLAYER ONE lay out in the early part of the Straight.

Passing the 300 Metres, PRIME MINISTER was reluctant to shift to the outside of RED MAJESTY.

Passing the 100 Metres, OSCAR GLORY, which was giving ground, momentarily raced in restricted room between NEARLY FINE and CINQUANTE CINQ which shifted in.

After the race, A Badel stated that although OSCAR GLORY's only win had been over 1600 Metres at Sha Tin, based on the manner in which the horse weakened in the Straight tonight, he was of the opinion that OSCAR GLORY may be better suited over 1400 Metres at this time.

He said after obtaining a good run behind THE ANOMALY throughout the early and middle stages, OSCAR GLORY came under heavy pressure rounding the Home Turn and then weakened out of the race noticeably over the latter stages.

A veterinary inspection of OSCAR GLORY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of RED MAJESTY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

NEARLY FINE, PACKING AWARD and PRIME MINISTER were sent for sampling.
