Racing Incident Report
Race Eight: (148) - TAI TAM HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters
LIKE THAT and SCORES OF FUN bumped at the start.
SHINY ONE began only fairly.
From the outside barrier, CARROLL STREET was steadied and shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
After travelling a short distance, YO BEAUTY shifted out and bumped SUPER DOBBIN which was taken out onto SPONTANEOUS which was inconvenienced.
Approaching the 1100 Metres, EXUBERANT was awkwardly placed outside GOODLUCK GOODLUCK which shifted out.
Passing the 1000 Metres, SUPER DOBBIN was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SPONTANEOUS.
After the 900 Metres, SPONTANEOUS was left racing wide and without cover.
Making the turn after the 600 Metres, CARROLL STREET raced tight outside NEARLY FINE which shifted to the outside of SUPER DOBBIN.
Near the 450 Metres, NEARLY FINE raced close to the heels of SUPER DOBBIN which shifted out marginally.
Passing the 300 Metres, SUPER DOBBIN raced tight inside EXUBERANT which shifted in.
Near the 250 Metres, SPONTANEOUS and SCORES OF FUN raced tight.
Close to the finishing line, GOODLUCK GOODLUCK raced tight inside YO BEAUTY which shifted in.
A veterinary inspection of QUADRUPLE DOUBLE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
WOOD ON FIRE and LIKE THAT were sent for sampling.
GENERAL:

The Veterinary Surgeon subsequently reported that SMART HUNTER had sustained a right front suspensory ligament injury on the day after racing.
Before being allowed to race again, SMART HUNTER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
2.
Racing Laboratory tests of SUPER FORTUNE, CHEVAL VALIANT, SIGHT SPIRIT, GOOD BUDDY, FIRE BALL, SO AWESOME, ZACIAN, DURHAM STAR, FLYING SWORD, BOOM STITCH, BEAUTY SPIRIT, SOULMATE, XIANG YIN, MALDIVES, COPARTNER AMBITION, SKY FOREVER, MASTER EIGHT, THE GOLDEN SCENERY, ROCK YA HEART, CALIFORNIA SPANGLE, MASTER MONTARO, HIGHLAND FORTUNE and CALIFORNIADEEPSHOT (24.10.21) proved negative.

Wood On Fire responded well to overhaul favourite Like That 30m out following a oneoff run better than midfield to ring up a second win and first in this grade from three starts this term. He's taken his form to a new level under the guidance of Karis Teetan. Firming favourite Like That did everything right but get the win after racing to the lead near the 100m following a perfect run fourth along the fence. A better gate and riding change to Joao Moreira nearly worked the oracle. Yo Beauty stayed on nicely for a placing after handing up the lead to Quadruple Double. It was his best effort from eight starts. Scores Of Fun ran on well from behind midfield to just get up late for a first four spot. It was an improved effort with a return to his favourite course and distance and a downgrade. Carroll Street came from near last and widest out to pick up a minor cheque. It wasn't a bad effort trying both the Valley and 1,200m for the first time. Nearly Fine ran on without threatening from towards the rear. He failed to back up an eye-catching fourth on debut but is still acclimatising. Quadruple Double weakened over the last 100m after finding the front 900m out from a tricky gate. It was a rare out-of-character run.
