Odd-on choice Tornado Twist won with something in hand after quickening from midfield to hit the front 160m out following a sluggish beginning for a second straight win from three only starts despite a rise in class. Loving A Boom closed well travelling nearly three-deep in midfield from a wide gate to edge Top Score for second. Top Score stuck on well following a handy run. He has been consistent without winning and do prefer him in Class Four. Well-backed late, Lucky Hero closed nicely settling one-off the fence behind midfield from a wide gate to just finish out of the placings. He's caught the eye in his two outings this term. Sparkling Dragon came up flat chasing the leader Handsome Bo Bo one-off the fence in third. He needed the run following an 80-day break and stable change. Invincible Mission got too far back from a wide gate but was hitting the line reasonably well in a pleasing first run in the grade following a smart debut win.

Racing Incident Report

Race Ten: (339) - VENTRIS HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters

SHIMMER AND SHINE was withdrawn on raceday morning by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (injury to left hind leg).

Before being allowed to race again, SHIMMER AND SHINE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

TORNADO TWIST began only fairly.

GUVNOR was slow to begin.

After this, GUVNOR was shifted across behind runners.

Also from a wide barrier, INVINCIBLE MISSILE was shifted across behind runners.

VICTORY MACHINE had to be ridden along for a considerable distance in the early stages to obtain a position outside the lead.

Over the concluding stages, TOP SCORE lay in under pressure.

After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on LUCKY HERO at the request of Trainer C S Shum.

The Veterinary Surgeon reported that this examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse's trachea.

A veterinary inspection of VICTORY MACHINE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of GUVNOR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious.

TORNADO TWIST and LOVING A BOOM were sent for sampling.

Trainer P F Yiu was fined $5,000 for being in breach of Stewards' Instruction 32 in that his stable strength currently continues to exceed the allowable number.

Mr Yiu was informed that he has until close of business on Monday, 14 January 2019 to ensure that his stable strength numbers are in compliance with the regulations.

He was further advised that should his stable strength not be in compliance with the regulations by the stipulated time, the Stewards would give consideration to whether the current $5,000 fine would be applicable.
