Cecil Chao hopes for 'natural cure' for gay daughter Gigi
Billionaire playboy Cecil Chao, who offered nearly HK$500 million to any man who could turn his lesbian daughter Gigi straight, has now said he hopes that the "change" will occur naturally.
Property magnate Chao, 76, offered the bounty after finding out about his daughter's marriage to her partner of eight years Sean Eav.
He told the US TV network ABC he had now accepted 33-year-old Gigi's "gay tendencies'' but dropped hints that he wants her to "reconsider her choice".
"I'm not saying that she's not okay to be gay," Chao told ABC News 20/20. "I mean it's her own choice and her own tendency, but she should make sure she knows what she wants. Maybe what she wants today is different to what she wants in the future."
But Gigi insisted she will not be ditching her partner, no matter how high the quality of man her father's millions can buy.
"My heart is taken," she told ABC, adding that her father's multimillion-dollar reward was an act of love and nothing else.
"I am happy. And he knows I am happy. He just wants me to be more happy."
Last weekend, Cecil Chao told the he was stunned by the global reaction to his marriage bounty offer to the man who could win his daughter's heart.
