A. Lange & Söhne’s updated Lange 1 Moon Phase timepiece is in a calibre of its own

A Lange & Söhne new Lange 1 Moon Phase is elegant with a complicated movement.
Some argue that the best way to wear an A. Lange & Söhne watch is with the case back up. For many of A. Lange & Söhne’s die-hard fans, the transparent case back, revealing the watch’s ultracomplicated, meticulously decorated movement, is like the growling vroom of their Ferrari, or the peanut butter to their jam.

Launching at this year’s Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) is the new calibre L121.3 featured in the updated Lange 1 Moon Phase. The new manufacture calibre, made of 438 parts – 70 of which support the moonphase display – is revealed through the crystal sapphire case back.

The movement is based on the new Lange 1 movement introduced two years ago. The original Lange 1 movement was created over two decades ago. The new Lange 1 movement, however, was entirely redesigned featuring the manufacturer’s famous in-house hairspring. Now, like the new Lange 1, the Lange 1 Moon Phase also runs on a new calibre featuring the updated escapement.

The Lange 1 Moon Phase is available in white gold/black, pink gold/argente, platinum/rhodie case/dial combinations

The solid-silver dial features luminous time and power reserve indications, an outsize date, the moonphase display and the day/night indicator. Manually-wound, the watch boasts a power reserve of 72 hours.
