Singaporean socialite Kim Lim has carved out a career path of her own, leveraging her fame to build a successful beauty empire. Despite her privileged upbringing as the daughter of Singaporean tycoon and billionaire Peter Lim, the influencer recently revealed she had a troubled childhood laced with abuse and violence.

Lim sat down for an interview with friend and YouTuber Xiaxue to discuss the trauma she experienced growing up – and how she overcame the negativity to come out better and stronger.

Despite bravely sharing her childhood experiences, there’s no denying that Lim lives a life of privilege afforded by her family’s wealth that most can only dream of, from her collection of luxury handbags to travelling the world on a private jet.

With more than half a million Instagram followers, Lim often shares photos of her jet-setting lifestyle. Her work in the beauty industry takes her to different parts of Asia like Bangkok and Seoul. She founded hair-loss treatment centre Papilla Haircare in 2019, followed by Illumia Therapeutics spa, Illumia Medical clinic and Illumiaskin by Kim Lim skincare – all folded under her company KLHealth.

In a recent post documenting a trip abroad, Lim is seen posing in front of a private jet. No wonder a private plane appears to be her preferred mode of transport when travelling, as she can relax in the comfort of her own space even when she’s 10,000 metres high in the air.

When Lim is on the road, she seems to prefer the luxurious comfort of a Rolls-Royce. She’s been spotted with her very own sedan that features a custom two-toned matt and glossy black paint job.

One of the most recognisable faces on Singapore’s social scene, she’s often spotted wearing the latest fashion and jewellery at VIP events and parties. She appeared at a private event hosted by Chanel wearing a black and white lace number with a black bag and her signature black wavy hair.

While scoring a Hermès Kelly or Birkin bag is a dream for many, Lim’s wardrobe is packed with these purses in various sizes and colours. Lim’s not one to save these opulent beauties for special occasions either – instead, she prefers to pair them with everything from evening gowns to casual travel attire.

Lim owns some of the world’s most coveted Hermès bags, including a Himalayan Birkin – a model that once sold for the US$450,000 at a Sotheby’s auction – she’s been seen carrying on a private jet flight while dressed in silk pyjamas.

Even when she’s dressed down to embark on everyday errands such as grocery shopping, she thoughtfully selects her outfit to reflect her luxury lifestyle. In an earlier post, Lim stands in front of a selection of vegetables at the supermarket wearing a cropped Celine tee and a Dior Saddle bag.

She takes the same approach with watches and jewellery. Instead of keeping her prized pieces in the safe, Lim loves to wear them while out and about, including a diamond and emerald-studded Aquanaut watch from Patek Philippe.

When looking for a feminine accent to brighten up a look, Lim will opt for luxury diamond jewellery, including butterfly earrings from Graff.

Earlier this year, the 32-year-old celebrated her birthday at the Capella Bangkok with her closest friends. Per CNA, along with a stunning display of floral arrangements and ice sculptures, Lim’s blowout party featured fireworks that lit up Bangkok’s skies.
