6 most exciting lots from The Crown’s memorabilia auction, from a replica of Princess Diana’s ‘revenge dress’ and Queen Elizabeth’s corgis in porcelain, to a 10 Downing Street facade

As Netflix’s hit series The Crown prepares for its finale on December 14, the show’s production house has announced that it will be auctioning off around 450 props and costumes from the critically acclaimed series.

According to auction house Bonhams, around 300 items will be available for online bidding from January 30 to February 8, 2024, and a live auction will be held on February 7, 2024 in London offering an additional 150 lots.

“It is also the closest anyone can come to owning the real thing – be it the facade of 10 Downing Street or Princess Diana’s engagement ring,” said Charlie Thomas, group director for house sales, and private and iconic collections at Bonhams, in a statement.

Among the prized items is a replica of Princess Diana’s iconic “revenge dress” worn by actress Elizabeth Debicki in season five. It is expected to bring between £8,000 (US$10,000) and £12,000.

A copy of Lady Diana’s sapphire engagement ring, which actress Emma Corrin wore while portraying the Princess of Wales and valued between £2,000 and £3,000, is also up for auction.

Other items going under the hammer are the replica of the iron gates of Buckingham Palace, estimated to fetch between £6,000 and £8,000.

There’s also a replica of the Coronation Chair, valued between £10,000 and £20,000.

A pair of porcelain corgis priced at £200 and the Queen Mother’s champagne swizzle stick prop, offered at £60, are two of the considerably more affordable pieces up for grabs.

According to Deadline, a source close to the process estimated that the auction could raise at least £1 million.

Proceeds for the auction will go toward funding a scholarship for the National Film and Television School for the next two decades.
