Karrueche Tran appears to be in the middle of a feud between two rappers she previously had relationships with.

According to TMZ, the deluxe version of Chris Brown’s recent album 11:11 contains a track dissing fellow rapper Quavo. Both Brown and Quavo have been romantically linked to Tran, with her split from Brown in 2015 ending so badly that she had to obtain a restraining order against him two years later.

In the song “Freak”, Brown’s raps: “F****** my old b***** ain’t gone make us equal/Sipping that 1942 cause I don’t do no Cuervo [Quavo]/Freak b**** she like Casamigos, not the Migos.”

Per the same TMZ article, Brown reignited the feud with the former Migos rapper earlier this year when he was seated next to Quavo at a Paris Fashion Week show.

So who is Karrueche Tran, and what has she been up to since she famously split from Chris Brown?

According to her profile on IMDB, Karrueche Tran hails from Los Angeles, California. Per her interview with Ebony, her mother is Vietnamese and her father is African-American. “I was always somewhere in the middle. In elementary school, I identified more with my Asian side,” she told the publication. “I had a lot of Korean friends and then once middle school hit, it was a little more diverse. It was still a weird place to be, because around the Asians, I was brown-skinned. Around Black girls, I wasn’t Black enough, you know?”

Per Complex, she has a Jamaican godmother, and was “raised in a Jamaican household”.

Tran, 35, has starred in 30 films and TV shows to date, according to her IMDB. These include 2016 film The Nice Guys starring Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling, and TV shows Bel Air, The Bay and Claws.

Besides acting, Tran, who has close to 14 million followers on Instagram, appears to be something of a beauty buff, and even has a separate @ruechibeauty page where she shares short make-up and skincare videos of her using products from brands like Mac, Tatcha, Rihanna’s Fenty Skin, Chanel, and more.

In an interview with Wendy Williams in 2017, Tran says she met Brown whilst working as a stylist. “I met Chris, actually, on a styling job. I was a personal assistant to a stylist. That was the direction I was going in my career. I was on this job. We met. You know, he did his whole charming thing. The base of our relationship started as us just being friends. It was work related. I didn’t have sex with him, anything like that. Then, you know, I got into my emotions and I fell in love with him.”

They were reportedly together for about four “rocky” years, according to Pop Culture.

Per MTV, the model-actress found out that Brown had fathered a baby girl outside their relationship, then called off the relationship.

In 2017, a judge granted Tran a five-year restraining order against Brown amid fears for her safety, per People. When Tran refused Brown’s request to return the diamond rings he gifted her, he reportedly became aggressive. She testified in court that he sent her violent text messages like “I can get my money back and I’m tired of playing games,” and “B**** I will beat the s*** out of you” and “I promise you I will make your life hell.”

“Around the second week of February, he told a few people that he was going to kill me,” Tran said in her declaration, per People. “He said if no one else can have me, then he’s gonna ‘take me out.’”

Per the Huffington Post, Brown and Rihanna were rumoured to be secretly dating while Brown was still seeing Tran. The ladies were accused at the time of making digs at each other on social media, but these claims were never verified.

Whatever the truth, it seems they’ve since cleared the air, with a source saying Tran “thinks [Rihanna] is a total goddess” according to Toronto.com in 2017.

Back in 2009, Brown was charged with making criminal threats and beating his then-girlfriend Rihanna in a violent attack that left her hospitalised, as reported by People at the time.
