Charlize Theron, 48, is in spring break mode with her children. The South African actress just shared a rare glimpse into her family life in a post on Instagram with her two children, Jackson, 11, and August, seven.

“Spring break mode activated,” she wrote alongside pictures of her and her youngsters at Walt Disney World.

According to People, Theron adopted her first child, Jackson, in 2012, and her younger daughter, August, in July 2015.

People reports that the siblings are very close, but like many family members, they do have occasional rifts. In a 2018 appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, she explained how the dynamic has changed.

“Now I cry, but not because it’s peaceful and loving any more … The one-year-old is now almost three, and she’s like, ‘No.’ The older one is like, ‘What? What do you mean no? I said let’s do this!’ It’s like war in our house every single day.”

From taking part in a Black Lives Matter protest to Jackson’s status as a young LGBT role model, Theron’s daughters are keen social activists. “They were so wanting to be proactive in, ‘Mom, what do we do? How do we change this?’” Theron told People in 2020, “And just their willingness to make signs and to want to go protest, and they still have their signs in the car.” She added, “And when they see protesters on the side of the road, they’ll say, ‘Mom, honk. Honk, mom, honk.’”

What’s more, Theron has been very supportive of her eldest daughter Jackson’s gender identity journey. “I thought she was a boy, too. Until she looked at me at 3 years old and said, ‘I am not a boy!’” she told British media in 2019. She later told PrideSource how she’d prefer to keep her child’s privacy until she’s ready to share the details herself. “My daughter’s story is really her story. And one day, if she chooses, she’ll tell her story.”

They’re emerging fashionistas

Being the children of a fashion legend like Charlize Theron certainly has its perks. Last year, Theron brought Jackson with her to the Dior fashion show at Paris Fashion Week where they sat front row, per US media.
