On March 25, former US national Football League (NFL) star Eric Decker took to Instagram to share a lighthearted glimpse into his vasectomy experience, humorously captioning it, “I survived.” His posts featured a mix of pre- and post-operation snapshots, including a particularly amusing image of him sporting a T-shirt that declared him a “Vasectomy Survivor”.

The 37-year-old and his wife, country singer Jessie James Decker, 35, have four children: Vivianne, nine, Eric Jr, seven, and Forrest, five, and their most recent arrival in February this year, their new son Denver.

The country singer shared with E! News that, despite their initial reluctance for a fourth, they embraced the unexpected gift. However, with Denver’s arrival, Jessie firmly stated, “we’re done,” ruling out the possibility of expanding their family further with a fifth child.

According to the New York Jets’ site, Eric’s love for sport led him to the University of Minnesota, where he excelled in American football and baseball. He entered into the NFL as a wide receiver with the Denver Broncos in 2010.

Seeking new horizons, Decker later joined the New York Jets in 2014 on a lucrative US$36.25 million, five-year deal, per ESPN. Despite a promising start, according to Fox Sports, he faced challenges due to injuries and team decisions, culminating in Decker’s retirement announcement in 2018.

According to Bustle, Jessie and Eric’s first meeting was refreshingly simple. It was sparked by a mutual friend who, while dining with Eric, was struck by his charm and thought of Jessie as a potential romantic match. A photo exchange through this friend was followed by a month of digital bonding, texts and calls, culminating in Eric taking a trip to Nashville to meet Jessie in person. Their romance began after this meeting, in 2012.

The couple tied the knot at the serene St Francis church in Castle Rock, Colorado, just a little over a year following their engagement, per Us Weekly. The reception, held at the elegant Castle Cliff Estates, was an intimate affair attended by family, close friends and a few notable guests such as NFL wide receiver Demaryius Thomas and former head coach, Glen Mason.
