Tom Brady has been spending some quality time with his three sisters recently, as seen in a rare photograph of the four of them together shared on the former NFL star’s Instagram page on February 7.

“Happy birthday to the best athlete in the fam,” he wrote in a caption pasted over the Instagram Story, referring to his softball-playing older sister Maureen, “We love you so-so much”.

Last year Brady, 46, retired “for good” from his career in American football after 23 seasons in the NFL with the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to the National Football League website. The news came a few months after Brady and his ex-wife Gisele Bündchen filed for divorce in October 2022, after 13 years of marriage, per InStyle.

While Brady does regularly share snaps of the adorable kids he shares with his supermodel ex, less is known about the parents and sisters who he grew up with.

Tom Brady is the son of his supportive parents Tom Brady Senior, 79, and Galynn Patricia Brady, 78. The Brady parents have been married for over 55 years, since 1969, and they’ve encouraged their son throughout his career.

“When you think about … the commitment that parents make and that my parents made to me and my career is unbelievable,” he shared during a 2022 episode of his podcast, Let’s Go with Tom Brady, Larry Fitzgerald and Jim Gray.

According to People, Tom Sr runs an insurance firm called Thomas Brady & Associates, which appears to have offices in California, Boston, New York City and Michigan. His mother, meanwhile, worked as a flight attendant with TWA.

Tom is the youngest of four siblings. He has three sisters: Maureen, Julie and Nancy, and their family has affectionately been dubbed the “Brady bunch” by fans.

Maureen, Tom’s oldest sister, was born in 1970, and played collegiate softball at Fresno State University, according to The Eagle-Tribune, and was later inducted into the San Mateo County Sports Hall of Fame.

Julie, born in 1974, is often mistaken for being Tom’s twin, as they look very alike. She too played sports at university and ended up marrying a former professional baseball player named Kevin Youkilis, per People.

In 1976, Tom’s parents welcomed Nancy, who also got the sporty gene and scored a scholarship to play softball at UC Berkeley, per People.

Having such an athletic family made the Bradys competitive. “I started it,” Tom Senior told The Eagle-Tribune. “Everything we did, and I mean everything, like running home from church, throwing a rock the farthest … Everything was a competition. I guess it made things really fun, at least for the winner.”
