Inside Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez’s divorce: from their lockdown love and unexpected split, to new romances with Ethan Slater and Maika Monroe, and a hefty US$1.25 million settlement
The phrase “till death do we part” no longer holds the same weight as it once did, apparently. We’ve seen it all before, through friends or family, but most notably in Hollywood – where short-lived marriages are probably most prevalent.
Britney Spears and Jason Alexander were husband and wife for a total of 55 hours, while Kim Kardashian infamously sealed the deal with Kris Humphries for just 72 days before splitting up.
Much to many fans’ dismay, the 30-year-old musical talent and her husband of two years, Dalton Gomez, 28, have officially divorced, as per People.
So, what happened and what are the exes doing now?

Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez’ happy beginnings
It was a lockdown kind of love. The couple were first spotted kissing in February 2020, during the Covid-19 era, as seen in photos obtained by TMZ, with People confirming their new relationship not long after.
Ari’s then-new BF, a property agent, made a cameo in Grande and Justin Bieber’s “Stuck With U” music video in May. The lovebirds seemed utterly smitten with one another for months, so when the “God is a Woman” singer shared pics of her engagement ring from Gomez, fans were ecstatic.
They got married in an intimate ceremony in May 2021.
The separation – and the divorce
There was apparently trouble in paradise for these lovers though, as just two years later, in January 2023, TMZ confirmed that the “7 Rings” star and her hubby had split.

The exes then finalised their divorce in October 2023, though British media states that Ari won’t be “officially” single until March 19, 2024. Per People, Grande paid Gomez a lump sum of US$1.25 million. They also split the earnings after selling their former LA home, states the same source. According to media reports, they remain on good terms.
Who are they dating now?
Slater allegedly cheated on his then-wife Lilly Jay with Grande, who he met on the set of Wicked, as previously reported. Slater shares a son with Jay and they had been together for 10 years before Jay filed for divorce in July.
Jay spoke up against Grande in a statement, saying, “[Ariana’s] the story really. Not a girl’s girl. My family is just collateral damage.”

A fresh start?
It seems like Ari and her controversial new beau are still together, though neither have made any public comments about the romance.
We’ll never really know what happened in the “Into You” songstress’ relationship with her ex Gomez though – the pop sensation has made sure of it. According to British media, the former couple have agreed not to share any photos or videos of their romance. And don’t expect Gomez to spill any of the details either: the same source claims that Dalton is barred from writing a tell-all book or giving any interviews about their marriage.
