Inside Jennifer Lopez’s mega mansion, on sale for US$42.5 million: 6 months after marrying Ben Affleck, her 1940s Bel Air home is back on the market – and it even has a 100-seat outdoor amphitheatre
We’re talking about her sprawling Bel Air retreat in California that is currently listed for sale and could be yours for a cool US$42 million, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Equipped with an outdoor 100-seat amphitheatre, a private lake and beach, an indoor cinema, an infinity pool, a gym and fitness centre, and 13 bathrooms, the luxe home sits on a 3.2-hectare (eight-acre) parcel not far from the Bel Air Hotel.
The creamy stucco and wood-accented structure includes over 12,800 sq ft of living space with several expansive terraces. It also includes a guest cottage, a pagoda with a firepit and a spa to complete the space.
On the inside, the home features a double-height living room boasting a fireplace, wet bar and curving wrought-iron staircase, along with a formal dining room, wood-panelled library and gourmet kitchen with a stone fireplace and a small breakfast nook.
The primary suite upstairs houses an office and study space, a guest room and a room for guests and massages. The main suite also comes with its own library and sitting room. Other spaces include a spacious family/game room with an additional wet bar and a lower level with a plush cinema, according to the Carol Wood Real Estate website the property is listed on.
Lopez bought the home seven years ago from actress Sela Ward for US$28 million. It was built in 1940 and was originally designed by architect Samuel Abraham Marx, who also designed the New Orleans Museum of Art, among others.
Other properties owned by the couple include a New York City penthouse, a mansion in the Hamptons, and a small cottage in LA’s Encino neighbourhood.
