Life just got a little rosier for Blackpink’s Rosé, who dropped her first solo single on March 12, making her the second Blackpink member to debut solo after Jennie in 2018.

While some might have considered Rosé one of the most underrated members of the K-pop girl group, her popularity has skyrocketed over the past year or so. Still, there were doubts whether her single, consisting of two songs fully in English, would be well received by K-pop fans.

But the numbers speak for themselves. Even ahead of its official release date, “R” became the first record from a female soloist to surpass 200,000 pre-orders over at K-pop retail site Ktown4u.

On YouTube, the music video for On The Ground clocked 41.6 million views in 24 hours. Over at Spotify, On The Ground debuted at No 8 on the daily global top 50 chart for March 12, with over 3 million streams in the first 24 hours alone. It now has the most streams achieved in 24 hours for a song officially released by a Korean solo artist on Spotify.

Rosé, who was born in New Zealand and raised in Australia, says the song is about soul-searching and staying grounded. On weekly YouTube music show Released, she said: “Sometimes, when you’re always on the roll, you forget to take care of what matters to you most and it’s just a song to remind us that everything we need is already within us.”

Here are some of the best tweets about Rosé’s solo debut (so you don’t have to keep scrolling through Twitter like we did):
