Taiwanese singer-actor Alien Huang was found dead in his Taipei apartment on Wednesday after what is believed to have been a freak accident.
Huang, who is best-known for co-hosting Taiwan’s long-running TV variety show 100% Entertainment with singer Show Lo, was discovered lying unresponsive with head injuries outside his bathroom by his father.
Taiwanese media reports said Huang was wearing a top but no underwear at the time, and the bathtub was filled with water, leading paramedics to believe that he died after slipping on the floor.
Local media reports said security camera footage showed Huang returning home alone at 7.15pm on Tuesday, and he did not leave his apartment. Huang’s father arrived at about 11am yesterday and discovered his son motionless on the floor. Police reportedly found no drugs or alcohol at the scene, and there were no signs of a struggle.
She wrote in an Instagram post: “I won’t pretend that I’m doing well, that I’m alright. Because it’s impossible to be good, to be alright … Hong-sheng, I believe in the future you’ll still be here. It’s just that you’ll be using a different format to be around. Thank you for appearing in my life.”
Huang first found fame as the host of the children’s nature programme Follow Me, Go! before joining the Japanese-Taiwanese boy band HC3 in 2002. In 2003, after HC3 broke up, he joined the Taiwanese boy band Cosmo.
He began co-hosting 100% Entertainment in 2006, quitting the show in 2016 to concentrate on his singing and acting career. He went on to release five solo albums and star in Taiwanese films including Din Tao: Leader Of The Parade (2012) and Go! Crazy Gangster (2016).
In a statement on Huang’s death, his record label, Rock Records, said: “Alien, hope on your own planet, you can do the music you want to do.”
