Recap by phillip woo

Jubilation prompted the pace from gate 10, reclaimed the lead from mid-race mover Wonder Years rounding the final bend and kept on gamely to register his second win this season. It was his first Class Four victory, and he could win again. Wonder Years circled the field to eventually lead 800m out and stayed on well for second. It was another good performance following his last-start win. Early favourite Nicholson Returns kept grinding away from better than midfield to fill a placing. He is in the right grade again but the heavy weight seemed to anchor him. Management Folks came from near last to edge Little Fairy for fourth. It was a return to form after failing to threaten in his first two Happy Valley runs this term. Punted late, Little Fairy ran on steadily after his midfield run wide with cover. He might be better suited over either 1,600m or 1,800m. Post-time favourite Mister Dapper plodded when Karis Teetan asked him for his final effort after his prominent run one off the fence. He did not handle the combination of a rise in weight and distance following his 1,600m victory.

Race One : (269) - AMARYLLIS HANDICAP - Class 4 - 2000Meters

Horse No 1 MISTER DAPPER (H376) K Teetan In the early stages raced keenly.

Near the 350 Metres was shifted to the inside of WONDER YEARS to continue into clear running.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 2 NICHOLSON RETURNS (E452) Z Purton Briefly crowded near the 300 Metres by MISTER DAPPER which shifted in.

Horse No 3 SUPER HONG KONG (D241) M Chadwick Jumped awkwardly.

After the race, M Chadwick stated that with his mount settling in a reward position and with the slow early pace of the event, SUPER HONG KONG found it difficult to finish the race off, particularly as it had some difficulty obtaining clear running from the 600 Metres when positioned behind GO GO SIXTEEN.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 4 WONDER YEARS (G001) K De Melo Slow to begin.

Lay out on the Home Turn.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 5 WINNING STEPS (G420) A Atzeni Jumped only fairly.

After the race, A Atzeni stated that from a wide barrier he was instructed to ride his mount conservatively in the early stages.

He said due to the slow early pace of the event WINNING STEPS raced keenly and as a result was unable to finish the race off.

Trainer P C Ng confirmed the instructions issued and stated that, in his opinion, WINNING STEPS was not suited by the slow early pace and he may look to ride the horse more positively in the early stages at its next race start.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 6 MANAGEMENT FOLKS (E496) A Badel Slow to begin.

Horse No 7 FLYING SILVER (E478) J McDonald After the race, J McDonald could offer no explanation for his mount's disappointing performance.
