Racing Incident Report
Race Nine: (662) - TAIPA HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1400Meters
EURO ROCKS was withdrawn on 12.5.23 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore).
Before being allowed to race again, EURO ROCKS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
BIG RED proved difficult to load.
Before being allowed to race again, BIG RED will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test.
THE ROCK was slow to begin.
BEAUTY FIT jumped awkwardly.
After being crossed by E LEGEND passing the 900 Metres, GOLDEN ARTIE commenced to race keenly for a short distance thereafter.
After the 900 Metres, BIG RED was left racing wide and without cover.
ROMAN TURBO raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
When questioned regarding NOBLE WIN settling back in the field, B Avdulla stated that his instructions were to settle his mount where comfortable, but importantly was not to ride it along in the early stages as it was stepping up to 1400 Metres and had raced keenly at its last start over 1200 Metres.
He said after NOBLE WIN jumped only fairly, he was reluctant to push his mount in the early stages having regard to his instructions and therefore NOBLE WIN settled further back in the field than what had been anticipated.
He added when placed under pressure whilst following SINBA near the 600 Metres, NOBLE WIN was not entirely comfortable on today's rain-affected track conditions until such time it was able to secure what he perceived to be better going wider on the track whereby his mount made good ground in the Straight.
Trainer J Size confirmed the instructions issued.
After the race, H Bentley (BEAUTY CHAMP) and K C Leung (GOLDEN ARTIE) both advised that their mounts were not comfortable on today's rain-affected track conditions.
A veterinary inspection of BEAUTY CHAMP and GOLDEN ARTIE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

GOLDEN ARTIE, BRAVE DREAMS and CALIFORNIA VOCE were sent for sampling.

Brave Dreams ran on nicely to claim victory near the 100m after getting into the open 300m out travelling midfield on the fence for a fourth win this campaign and first over the 1,400m. He'll remain in the grade and another win won't surprise. California Voce ran on nicely near the outside to just take second after making his run one off from behind midfield. Noble Win finished nicely to just miss the quinella spot after a patient ride second last from a middle draw. It was a good run with a step up to 1,400m after a luckless 1,200m effort last start at his second local run. E Legend kept on gamely to just miss a placing after a pace stalking run. He was able to back up a speed track third last start over a shorter trip. Punted late Sinba finished next best with a bid down the stands side after a patient ride two from the rear. He continues to find things hard in his past three starts at the top of the weights. Punted late Massive Action led and knocked up over the final 150m. Favourite Golden Artie struggled after a prominent run with cover. He didn't seem to handle the ground.
