CrossFit: Tia-Clair Toomey wins first bobsleigh race and makes Super Bowl LV commercial cameo

  • Four-time CrossFit Games champion says there is still ‘a lot to learn’ as she eyes Winter Olympics
  • The 26-year-old also appears in a Super Bowl ad with fellow CrossFitter Josh Bridges
Four-time CrossFit Games champion Tia-Clair Toomey has won her first bobsleigh competition, grabbing two victories at the New Horizon races in South Korea last weekend.

Toomey, who will be looking to win her fifth straight title this summer at the 2021 CrossFit Games, partnered pilot Ashleigh Werner, who is also Australian.

Toomey is a brakewoman, push-starting the bobsleigh along the ice in freezing temperatures, and then hitting the brakes once they cross the finish line.

She said she was happy with her performance in an Instagram post.

“There is still a lot to learn and fine-tune, but I can officially say I have done my very first bobsled race. This week has been all about learning the ins and outs of race week and I have loved every minute of it.”

Toomey is eyeing the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, meaning she would be the first CrossFit athlete to compete at both the Summer and Winter editions. She finished 14th in the women’s 58kg (128lbs) weightlifting event at the 2016 Olympics in Rio.

Along with her bobsleigh victories, Toomey also made a cameo in a Super Bowl LV commercial along with fellow CrossFitter Josh Bridges for Oikos Pro Yogurt.
