ONE Championship: Christian and Angela Lee ‘so proud’ as 17-year-old brother Adrian wins Hawaii high school wrestling title
- Adrian returns to wrestling competition in Hawaii and marches to OIA Championships title two months after younger sister Victoria’s death
- ‘Your skill on the mat is unquestionable but what shines above that is your heart. That is undeniable,’ ONE atomweight MMA champion Angela says
Adrian Lee, the younger brother of late ONE Championship fighter Victoria Lee, added some more titles to his burgeoning resume after returning to wrestling competition.
After winning the Western Divisional Championships at Pearl City High School in Honolulu earlier this month, 17-year-old Adrian also took first place at the weekend in the boys’ 160-pound division for his Mililani High School’s Trojans wrestling team at the Oahu Interscholastic Association (OIA) Championships.
His run to the OIA title also included an incredible leg sweep that he shared a clip of on his Instagram account – one which drew high praise from his elder sister, Angela Lee.
“The coolest move I ever saw,” said ONE’s atomweight MMA champion, who had filmed the clip at Leilehua High school.
“God damn. That was kinda nasty,” she could be overheard saying on the video.
“We’re all so proud of you Adrian,” Angela added in a later post. “Your skill on the mat is unquestionable but what shines above that, is your heart. That is undeniable.
“Love you so much little bro.”
Adrian’s parents Ken and Jewelz Lee also congratulated their son on social media, posting a picture with him following his win.
“Congratulations OIA champion Adrian Lee! We are all so proud of you,” they wrote in a post on their joint Instagram account.
Christian Lee, ONE’s lightweight and welterweight MMA champion, was also watching on, with Adrian sharing a picture of them together at the tournament.
“So proud of you bro,” Christian wrote in an Instagram post on Sunday night. “OIA Champion and soon to be State Champion.”
Angela had congratulated her younger brother on his victory at the Western Divisional Championships the previous weekend, too.
“You deserve it,” she wrote. “So proud of you. Love you!”
Adrian Lee had made a touching post last month in memory of his sister Victoria, who died on Boxing Day.
“Most loving person I know,” he wrote on Instagram, sharing a picture of the two as young children pulling silly faces.
“The Prodigy” Victoria Lee went 3-0 in ONE’s atomweight MMA division, having signed with the promotion aged 16.
