Chinese star Muni He will play in October’s Aramco Team Series event, joining compatriot Janet Lin Xiyu for the tournament at Hong Kong Golf Club.

Known for her captivating style on the course and prominent social media presence, He is also a regular competitor on the LPGA Tour.

It will be the 24-year-old’s second appearance in the ATS, having previously finished in a tie for seventh at the tournament in Spain in 2021.

“I’m looking forward to it, to be competing in Hong Kong, and I’m excited to put on a great performance for the fans at this world-class event,” He said.

The ATS Hong Kong, which runs from October 6 to 8, is the fourth event of the ATS season, bringing together 28 teams of three professionals and one amateur to compete over two days.

Professionals will also battle it out over three days for the individual title and valuable Race to Costa del Sol and Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings points.

A week after He and Lin play in Fanling, Min Woo Lee will lead a strong field at the Asian Tour’s SJM Macau Open, which is also expected to include Hong Kong’s Taichi Kho.

India’s Gaganjeet Bhullar, the title holder from the tournament’s last staging in 2017, will be returning, alongside the likes two-time Macau winner Scott Hend, Miguel Tabuena of the Philippines who has three Asian Tour titles to his name, and Australian Wade Ormsby who has won four times on the circuit.

China’s legendary trailblazer, Zhang Lianwei, who was the first Chinese golfer to play in the Masters and won back-to-back titles in Macau in 2001 and 2002 will also take part.

“The Macau Open is one my favourite tournaments as it has provided some memorable moments in my career, especially in 2002 when I won a playoff against Nick Price,” Zhang said. “I can’t wait to test my skills against the next generation of golfers.”

Cho Minn Thant, the Asian Tour’s CEO, said the tournament’s return was “hugely significant, as it has played such an important role in our history for over two decades”.

Entertainment resorts owner SJM has agreed to back the event for three years, and managing director Daisy Ho said she was extremely excited to see it returning.

“The event will not only bring Macau to the forefront of the global golf community, but will also give our local youngsters the chance to participate in PGA-caliber competitions,” she said.
