Customer cuts off noodle shop owner’s head in fight over bill
The two brawled after the customer said he been overcharged by a few yuan for his meal, police say
A noodle restaurant owner in central China has been beheaded during a quarrel with a customer over the price of his meal, a local newspaper reports.
A 22-year-old man from Sichuan province was apprehended at the scene by police in Wuhan, Hubei province on Saturday, the Wuhan Evening News reported.
The suspected used a kitchen knife to cut off the owner’s head as they brawled. Police appealed to the public via their microblogging account not to distribute pictures of the dead victim on social media.
The suspect ordered three bowls of noodles but soon got into a heated argument with the restaurant owner, accusing him of overcharging one yuan (15 US cents) per bowl. The two men then began to fight.
According to police, the customer cut off the proprietor’s head then threw it into a rubbish bin nearby.
A friend of the owner told the newspaper that the 42-year-old victim had been living with his 13-year-old son since he divorced five years ago. He was an honest man and did not cheat customers, the friend said.
