Chinese hospital patient ‘attacks boy, 10, with meat cleaver on school bus in retaliation for being pushed by child’s father’

A 10-year-old son of a Chinese hospital worker suffered life-threatening injuries after reportedly being stabbed on a school bus by a former patient wielding a meat cleaver.

Surveillance footage recorded on the bus on Monday showed the boy being stabbed 12 times after the suspect boarded the vehicle and attacked him while holding him down in his seat, The Beijing News reported on Wednesday.

The suspect, named in the report as Jia Mouping, 54, was immediately arrested by police following the incident. He remains in custody while an investigation is carried out.

Jia allegedly carried out the attack on Weiwei in retaliation for being “pushed” inside the hospital in May by the boy’s father, identified by his surname Kong, the report said.

Jia had then reportedly demanded an apology and also 300 yuan (HK$353) to cover the cost of a hospital room – even though he was not entitled to receive the full payment, the report said.
