Watches & Wonders Edit: Panerai releases new Submersible QuarantaQuattro models in 44mm cases, including a sustainable eSteel variation and a collaboration with Luna Rossa

With the brand’s rich naval history, as the long-time official supplier to the Italian Navy, divers’ watches are central to Panerai’s identity.

Its coveted Luminor Submersible collection was extended at Watches and Wonders 2022 with a range of pieces in a new 44mm case, with a name that reflects the innovation in size: Panerai Submersible QuarantaQuattro.

The Submersible QuarantaQuattro Steel is part of the brand’s new 44mm models that are ideal for sub-aqua exploration.
The new 44mm models are available in a range of different versions, all of them perfectly kitted out for sub-aqua exploration: they’re water resistant up to 300 metres and come with a unidirectional rotating bezel and indications filled with white Super-LumiNova.

The case marks them out as members of the house’s Luminor family, featuring its signature crown-protecting device. At their heart beats the P. 900 calibre, which powers a seconds sub-dial at 9 o’clock and a 72-hour power reserve.

The Submersible QuarantaQuattro Bianco combines a steel case and a brilliant white dial with a green strap; while another version, PAM01229, comes with a steel case, a black dial and straps in black rubber and dark grey fabric.

STYLE Edit: Panerai’s stunning his and hers Luminor Marina and Due watches

Panerai’s Submersible QuarantaQuattro Carbotech Blue Abisso is coloured in a mesmerising undersea blue, with a case made from the brand’s highly-durable carbotech.

A third option, the Submersible QuarantaQuattro Carbotech Blu Abisso, features a dial and straps in undersea blue, alongside a case made from carbotech, a material developed by Panerai that combines remarkable strength with a feeling of something close to weightlessness on the wrist.

Panerai is determined to be a good steward of the natural world, and is constantly on the lookout for ways it can be more sustainable.

Another of the new QuarantaQuattro models constitutes eloquent testimony to that commitment, with the Panerai Submersible QuarantaQuattro eSteel made from more than 50 per cent recycled materials. It comes with dials and straps in a choice of deep blue, grey and green.

The Submersible QuarantaQuattro Luna Rossa is a partnership with the award-winning Italian sailboat team, using a marine palette of blue, white and red.

Finally, the Submersible QuarantaQuattro Luna Rossa showcases Panerai’s partnership with an organisation that’s at the forefront of daring marine endeavour: the Luna Rossa team from Italy, winner of the Prada Cup challenger series in the last America’s Cup.

The new watch, celebrating Panerai’s ongoing sponsorship of the team, comes in a marine palette of blue, white and red, and is available in a limited edition of 1,500.
