Pan-seared Kuruma shrimp with shrimp mousse is one of the delicious Lunar New Year lunch and dinner menu offerings being served from February 4 to 12 at Lai Heen restaurant at The Ritz-Carlton, Macau.

During China’s Lunar New Year holiday, Macau is the perfect destination for experiencing a variety of festive celebrations – from lighting up firecrackers and fireworks in designated areas of the city, to visiting the iconic A-Ma Temple and watching new year’s parade and firework displays.

The award-winning Chinese restaurants of “Asia’s Las Vegas” are also offering special menus to welcome Year of the Pig – bringing luck and prosperity with some sumptuous traditional delicacies.

Let’s check out some of the top culinary offerings.

Lai Heen, The Ritz-Carlton, Macau

The Michelin-starred restaurant Lai Heen at The Ritz-Carlton, Macau, will serve special lunch and dinner menus during the festive period from February 4 to 12.

Among the delights are the heart-warming double-boiled bamboo pith soup with conpoy and shiitake mushroom and the full-flavoured, crispy but tender codfish fillet with crispy garlic and salty egg yolk. Another fish dish, simmered grouper fillet in superior broth, is savoury and light.

If you crave something with a traditional Lunar New Year flavour, sliced pork rolled with Tianjin cabbage and black moss with air-dried oyster is one of the treats to savour.

Golden Flower, Wynn Macau

The two-Michelin-star restaurant at Wynn Macau, is offering diners a series of seasonal Northern Chinese dishes to celebrate the Lunar New Year from February 5 to 11.

Created by acclaimed chef Liu Guozhu, highlights among the Tan cuisine-style dishes include sliced red grouper and live abalone served in hot fish soup and pan-fried scallop and king prawns with broccoli.

To help celebrate Lunar New Year in the traditional Northern Chinese way, don’t forget to try the deep-fried Beijing-style glutinous rice cakes.

Wing Lei Palace, Wynn Palace

Overlooking the performance lake of Wynn Palace, Wing Lei Palace, which was recently awarded two diamonds by the Meituan Dianping 2019 Black Pearl Restaurant Guide, is serving Cantonese Lunar New Year specialities from February 1 to 19.

Chilled abalone, sea cucumber, pomelo and Chinese pickles salad, prepared with abalone from Japan and sea cucumber from Hokkaido, is inspired by the traditional Malaysian-Chinese Lunar New Year dish yee sang, also known as lo hei, which symbolises abundance and prosperity.

Other traditional dishes include stewed pork knuckle with lotus root in red bean curd sauce and fried sticky rice with conpoy and air-dried meat.

Jade Dragon, City of Dreams, Macau

From February 4 to 11, Jade Dragon, the three-Michelin-star restaurant at City of Dreams, Macau, will be serving lucky dim sum Lunar New Year dishes as well as a special Lunar New Year set menu.

Chef Kelvin Au Yeung Man-yin has created some exquisite new year-themed dim sum, including steamed wood fungus pine nut and vegetable crystal dumpling, and deep-fried sea urchin and seafood in fresh milk custard.

The seven-course set menu features delicious offerings such as its signature prime-cut barbecue Iberico pork collar, stir-fried Brittany lobster with wild mushrooms and winter truffle, and fish maw and pork dumplings in vinegar and chilli sauce.

For those people looking for fine vegetarian food, try the braised bean curd and vegetables with wild mushrooms.
