A Harry Little Christmas

Sing along to some of the most popular Christmas songs in these festive concerts presented by local artist-magician Harry Wong, and featuring beautiful singing from the Hong Kong Philharmonic Chorus, under the baton of Lio Kuok-man.

There will be three shows at the Concert Hall, Hong Kong Cultural Centre, on December 23 and 24.

The Nutcracker

A traditional Christmas celebration in the city is the Hong Kong Ballet production which takes the audience on a splendid and magical journey, where the heroic Nutcracker Prince defeats the evil rat troop. Reinterpreted by award-winning Australian choreographer Terence Kohler, and with Tchaikovsky’s classic music performed by Hong Kong Sinfonietta.

This year’s shows also feature Hong Kong actress Annie Liu among the cast.

Performances run at the Grand Theatre, Hong Kong Cultural Centre, from December 14 to 26.

The snowman & The Bear

Featuring two heart-warming classic animated films, The Snowman and The Bear, based on the books of the same names by English illustrator Raymond Briggs, the shows are accompanied by live orchestral music performed by City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong, as well as narration by Australian actor Michael Sharmon and local TV actress Corinna Cheng.

There will be two shows at Sha Tin Town Hall Auditorium on December 23.

Cheers! Series

The annual series presented by the Leisure and Culture Services Department features family entertainment, including music and dance, puppetry and acrobatics, and multimedia performances and movie screenings by theatre groups from all over the world from December until February 2019.

Highlights include Red Racing Hood (Tsuen Wan Town Hall, December 7 to 9) by Australia’s Terrapin Puppet Theatre, and What the Moon Saw (Hong Kong City Hall, December 14 to 16) by UK’s 2Faced Dance Company.

The Secret

This musical is an adaptation of Taiwanese singer-producer Jay Chou’s 2007 directorial debut Secret, and portrays a romantic love story between two students and a time-travel theme.

With more than 20 hits from Chou as the musical backdrop, the show is created by the Broadway team of Tony award-winning director John Rando, renowned scriptwriter Marc Acito and acclaimed choreographer Zach Woodlee.

The production runs at the Venetian Theatre, The Venetian Macao, from December 14 to 16.

An Unjust Good Fellow

The theatre drama, presented by Hong Kong Repertory Theatre, tells the story of a pastor who returns to his metropolitan hometown where a tragic story unfolds during a struggle between legal reasoning and human bonds, justice and mercy.

Directed by Octavian Chan and featuring veteran actor Ben Yuen and award-winning actress Man Sui-hing, the sell-out drama received rave reviews when it premiered last year.

The production will be staged at Studio Theatre, Hong Kong Cultural Centre, from December 21 to 30.
