Café de Paris Monte-Carlo in Macau brings fine Riviera dining – and custard fit for a prince

Café de Paris Monte-Carlo’s first outlet in Asia has opened in the Diamond Lobby area of Galaxy Macau. This French restaurant offers some of the signature dishes from its flagship outlet, which was founded in 1868 in Monaco and is well-known for its brasserie ambience.
The Parisian-inspired café is designed in an elegant Belle Époque style and features an exhibition area dedicated to the Monaco Grand Prix. Its executive chef, Sylvain Perraut, has over 30 years’ culinary experience and offers a menu featuring French and Mediterranean dishes. This Macau restaurant also offers a handful of Asian dishes, such as Yangzhou fried rice and Hainanese chicken rice.
The trout meunière was perfectly cooked with a fragrant brown butter sauce and topped with baked almonds and parsley. The French staple, daube de boeuf, was another hit. The braised beef was tender, juicy and full of flavour in the velvety, luscious red wine sauce. The hearty dish was packed with some caramelised vegetables, and silky-smooth and creamy mashed potatoes on the side.
The dessert was strawberry millefeuille Prince Albert, which is reportedly the favourite of the Prince of Monaco. Its layers of flaky puff pastry, custard and fresh strawberries were a delicious finale. Presented just right, the custard came with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It left at lest one diner wanting more.
